About Us

How Lisduff Angus became: The 2nd biggest pedigree herd in Ireland / The biggest cattle exporter to Europe

A little history...

Cattle for more than 100 years

The McEnroes are all about cattle. Over 100 years ago, my grandfather bought his first land - to keep Aberdeen Angus cattle.

My father continued the farm and taught me everything he knew. I started trading cattle and kept some for myself. After breeding some Charollais I quickly changed to Angus - a good decision.

Over the years I grew into the now 2nd largest pedigree herd in Ireland.

Our Cattle

And what they are about

We like moderate cattle. That's basically it!

Our cattle are all about balance. You can do so many things when breeding cattle—big, small, tall, “powerful”, big gut, etc. But I want my cattle to be moderate. Masculine bulls and, more importantly, feminine females. There are already enough show heifers that look like a bull.

More characteristics

Cattle for more than 100 years

Long, deep, wide through the top, great conformation with a square body and good square heads. Those are the 5 main characteristics I look and breed for. Of course I also want 4 strong legs “in every corner”, a calm temperament, good feet, a good topline and lots of muscle. I breed for longevity.

I do not have unbalanced cattle, for example: lost behind the shoulder, slacking top lines, too big guts or cattle with bad legs.

Go to the reference female list or just visit the farm to see what I am talking about.

Most of the cattle I sell are halter trained; if you specifically want it, just tell me. We will get it done.
