Centenary Celebration Sale - A great Angus weekend in Ireland

From the 8th - 10th of August we had our first big sale together with the Liss herd. With that, we celebrated 100 years of Angus breeding from the McEnroes. Our grandfather purchased his first land back in 1925.

It wasn't only a sale, it was a perfect tour for all cattle enthusiasts. Roughly 300 people from Ireland and all of Europe joined us to see cattle connect with other breeders, talk to old friends, and make new ones. We started on Friday with farm tours at Lisduff and Liss. We were basically looking at cattle all day long. The people from Europe could see what our breeding is all about - moderate cattle with lots of breed character. The big sale then was on Friday at 3:30 pm. Lots of people bidding on farm and even more online on their screens.

The first big highlight: Liss Minree, Tullamore Champion 2024, was sold at Lot 6 for 13,200€. Prices stayed that high, lot 9, Lisduff Maggie Z203 was sold for an incredible 15,200€. This was the top price of the sale.

After all of the 50 heifers were sold, only 10 bulls remained. Here we had lots of interest from Europe. Lot 59, Lisduff Red Alan A310 was sold for 9,500€ to Romania. Lisduff Dollar Y065 was sold for more than 10,000€, being the highest-priced bull.

Cattle went to Ireland, UK, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Romania, Spain and Portugal. The average of the sale was at 6,240€ across all 60 heifers and bulls. This is still unbelievable to us and we would like to thank everyone involved in this weekend. All the people organising it, all the people who helped us and thank you to all the people visiting us, from Ireland, the UK and Europe. A special thank you goes to Denis Barrett who did an amazing job selling the heifers and bulls.

After the sale we enjoyed the Irish culture. Lots of dancing, singing, eating and drinking. We just couldn't have asked for a better atmosphere.

To complete the weekend, we headed to Tullamore to visit Ireland's biggest show, which, again, was a great experience for our European friends.
